No Automatic Extensions for B-1 Expert Work Visas

The Ministry of Interior (Misrad Hapnim) has confirmed to KTA in writing that no automatic extensions will be granted for B-1 foreign expert work visas, despite current geopolitical instability and limited office hours.

Unlike previous emergencies where visas were extended by decree, the current directive requires individual action for every holder.

  • Key Actions for Employers: Audit Immediately: Review all expiration dates for foreign experts.
  • No Grace Period: Do not rely on past precedents of automatic renewals; staying or working without a B-1 Expert visa extension is a violation.
  • Expiary of B-1: Work visa for main applicant, cancelles his/her dependents visas.
  • Initiate Filing: Use available restricted channels now to avoid a lapse in legal work authorization.
  • Status: Visa renewals are currently not classified as "urgent" by the Ministry for walk-in purposes, making early filing through professional channels essential.
Kan-Tor & Acco is actively assisting employers in navigating these delays and working to streamline the process wherever possible, despite the current pause in processing.

Key Restrictions & Protocols:
  • Capacity Limit: Flights are strictly capped at 70 passengers per aircraft to manage security and passenger flow.
  • Priority Booking: Absolute priority is being given to non-Israeli residents whose previous flights were canceled. El Al is contacting these passengers directly to rebook them on repatriation flights to 22 destinations at no extra cost.
  • New Ticket Sales: General bookings will remain closed until the backlog of existing ticket holders is cleared.
  • Humanitarian Exceptions: A dedicated application process is available for those requiring urgent travel for medical or exceptional personal reasons.
Operational Note: Schedules remain subject to short-notice changes by security authorities. We recommend all travelers and employers to monitor digital channels for real-time updates.
